Resurrection
I am made of yearning on humid dawns, of torn kisses, of caresses with no body, of wordless mouths and of hollowed hugs hanging in the air. I'm made of suns and faint stars, of crescent moons and of lifeless comets. Drowned in dust I hang onto a thin thread of life that nourishes me and I emerge from the shadows. If I had another chance Here it happens, gentlemen, that I play death. --Juan Gelman If I had another chance I would be the same again. I would embrace the letters that live inside me, I would gather the dust from my bones and with my nazarene sandals, witnesses of love and death, I would begin to walk the beaten path, - the south, being always. my north- I would overfly prisons and cemeteries to give life to death and build paradise in the kingdom of this earth. If I had another chance I would be the same again. I would only change one detail of the story: I would start living the day of my death until I retrace the path a December 28. The day our dreams were shattered… Clocks stopped time fell silent a room left alone the seats empty a voiceless blackboard the quiet walls voices and laughter frozen in the air like a distant echo a “good morning” and a “see you tomorrow” the door left opened to shadows and fear. |
