Dovizia (Abundance). ca. 1510. Workshop of Giovanni della Robbia (Italian, Florence 1469-1529/30).

Glazed terra-cotta. 28x13.5x9”. This statuette is one of a number of della Robbia reductions

of a lost statue by Donatello, ca. 1430 that stood on a column in the Mercato Vecchio in Florence.

A child who originally grasped at Dovizia’s skirt has since broken off; his feet have left an impression

near the frog at lower right. Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC.
