Behrouz Boochani is Freed!
by Bronwyn Mills
In our REMARKABLE READS section of Issue 6, we published a review of Boochani's book, No Friend but the Mountains, smuggled out from his detention camp on Manus Island, electronically and via an illegal cell phone; it was even composed on it. The book, translated by Omid Tofgighian, detailed the reprehensible treatment of refugees by the Australian government and Bouchani's incarceration in the camp on Manus Island, Papua New Guinea. We are happy to report that after more than six years, Bouchani has been freed. ¡VIVA! indeed!
